We Are Officially Open!

Yahoo!  The doors are open and we are meeting new customers every day!
This has been a dream come true - a ton of work but we love what we do!

Just wanted to share a few pictures from our opening day - pictures never do the space justice though so come on in and check us out!

 Our first customer!

Um...I think it's fair to say that someone might be an Addict.

Our gorgeous flowers from one of our awesome customers - note the cute scrapbooking theme with the buttons and bling!

One of my favourite sections - just look at all the sprays, paints, mediums,  and stamps!

Stamps, inks, stains, glitter, and stencils...OH MY!
We are thrilled to be carrying Stencil Girl products in the store... we already have to reorder!

The Tim Holtz wall - because he makes the coolest stuff!

Last night we officially broke in the classroom space with our Art Journal group and have a ton more classes coming!  Check out the CLASSES AND EVENTS page on the website for upcoming scheduled stuff.

I am busy making room for the giant order that should be here on Friday - pop in today for Double Points Wednesday and help make more room!

You Want To Know What's Awesome?

What's awesome is taking a big leap of faith and opening a business.  But it's even more awesome with a friend - in a business that made you friends in the first place.

What's awesome is finding the perfect location and having things just fall right into place so that you can open sooner than you expected.

What's beyond awesome is the encouragement and support you are given.  And the friends and family that drop everything they are doing to come help. They give up their few hours off to come help out and make our space even more incredible than it already was.

So this blog post is a huge thank you to some awesome people:

Thank you to Sean, Chad, Denis, and Andrew for making our classroom just like we pictured it and especially our gorgeous new sink! And hours of entertainment :)  You may not understand this hobby of ours but your encouragement is overwhelming.

Thank you Meaghan and Matt for giving us your long weekend, your fabulous pricing skills, and your endless support.

Thank you Tina for your superb taping skills!

Thank you to Tina, Andrea, and Michelle for joining our team and sharing in the excitement with us.

Thank you to Jere and Ashley for giving up your time and helping us with stock.  Your enthusiasm makes all those boxes go so much quicker!

Thank you to Shannon, Steve and Erin for being our emergency tech team!

Thank you to Jackie and Dave for the delivery and advice!

Thank you to Don for helping with our slat wall!

A big thank you to the gals who joined us for a potluck supper-we loved hearing your ideas and we were so glad you joined us in the midst of the chaos!

And lastly, thank you to everyone who took the time to email, text, message or call us to offer your time and encouragement. Thanks for joining us in this awesome adventure!
See you on opening day!

Meet Our Newest Instructor

Meet Michelle (and her handsome son Cole!)

I've been crafting since I was about 16. I started in oils, acrylics and watercolor. I started papercrafting in 2003 but discovered stamping about 7 years ago and that has been my passion ever since. My favorite paper lines are Bo Bunny, Prima and Pink Paislee and my favorite products are Tim Holtz. My favorite designers are Debbie Olson, Cindy Lawrence and of course, the Distress King, Tim Holtz. I am really excited to come back to teaching!

Michelle will be starting up a Stampers Club and a Christmas Card Club that will be full of techniques and pretty cards.  Her first class is scheduled for Wednesday December 11th - pics will be on our Facebook page very soon!  Check out some of Michelle's gorgeous cards:

We are excited to introduce our second instructor to you today!

Meet Tina!

I have always enjoyed being crafty. I started off with quilting and paper ended up stealing the show in 2006. I have evolved from a very structured style to a much more shabby chic look. I love texture!... buttons, flowers, doilies and bling. I recently dabbled in Project Life, and really enjoyed how easy it was to tackle a large project. I also love mixed media and playing with all the different paints and mists. My favourite paper lines are Prima, Bo Bunny, and Kaisercraft and am inspired by Anna Dabrowska and Leslie Ashe. I am so very excited to be joining the team!

Check out our Facebook page for details on Tina's upcoming classes!

We Are Excited To Introduce..

one of our new instructors here at Scrap Addicts!!

Meet Andrea!
And her gorgeous new puppy Roxy!

Andrea moved to Edmonton from Vancouver and has been a scrap addict since 1998.  She has a crisp, clean style and loves the new trendy designs by Bella Blvd, Echo Park, Fancy Pants, and Simple Stories.  Her favourite designers are Leica Forrest, Cari Locken, Vicki Boutin and Allison Davis.

Andrea is amazing at mixing patterns and embellishments and is very excited to start teaching with us. She will be offering both daytime and nighttime classes, specializing in two page layouts and cards.

Check out our Facebook page for pictures and dates of Andrea's first class!

Big Things Are Happening!

Welcome to our first official blog post!  We have been so grateful for the amount of encouragement and support - we can't wait to be open!  We spent the weekend freshening up our already beautiful space:

This was the cash area before...the colour was not speaking to us :)  Notice we work harder with coffee!  We were so happy to discover both a Starbucks and a Tim Horton's so close to our new space!  Our cash desk is already beautiful but we will be attacking it with some sandpaper and a little Inka Gold this week.

Look how much better the chocolate brown warms up the space!   And the yummy cake that was dropped off to us :)  This space is such a perfect spot to display our classes - we have 4 instructors that can't wait to share their love of papercrafting with you!

And speaking of instructors...we worked hard to make sure our classroom  was what our customers have been telling us they wanted -

a wall to divide the space - a wall with outlets and cupboards and countertops!  We have so many outlets in the store which is fantastic for classes!

Awesome tables and COMFY chairs!  And fantastic lighting!

And now we're getting ready for all the stock!!  We've been searching for stock that will be new and exciting for you and we can't wait to rip open the boxes!
We will be introducing our instructors later this week and giving you sneak peeks of the goodies that are arriving.   Thanks for joining us on the adventure!
